Dr Thirst, is also a well-known musical director.
He has worked as a volunteer over the past four years interviewing members of the public, as well as staff and volunteers of various ambulance services across the UK.
By researching the best practices deployed by Community First Responders and taking those examples with the aim of introducing them into other regional ambulance service trusts.
His recommendations were highlighted in Anthony Marsh’s clinical review of the service last year and Dr Thirst has also been advising him on their implementation.
The citation praised Dr Thirst’s “outstanding contribution to patient care in his local community” as well as his “commitment, compassion and dedication” in enhancing the role of Community First Responders across the region.
